The Unicorn Becomes a Hawk
Kristaps Porzingis has been dealt to Atlanta in a three-team trade with the Nets and Hawks.
Celtics Receive: C
Georges Niang
Second-Round Pick
Definitely understand the goal with this trade, but it feels rash. The Celtics understand they probably aren’t going to be in a position to contend next year with Tatum’s injury and it’s clear what their roster hierarchy was. Curious what pieces the Celtics add now since it’s hard to imagine any two players that compliment Tatum and Brown more than Holiday and Porzingis.
Nets Receive: B+
Terance Mann
No. 22 Pick (Via Atlanta)
The Nets add another pick in this year’s draft that they can trade for more assets or use to find more talent. The Nets only gained from this transaction, but Terance Mann and his contract aren’t exactly the type of addition you necessarily want.
Hawks Receive: A
Kristaps Porzingis
Second-Round Pick
Atlanta was likely to move off of Capela this offseason anyways so adding Porzingis to the roster bolsters their center rotation. Adding Porzingis, a former all-star, improves the Hawk’s spacing and doesn’t sacrifice any rim protection.
