Kevin Durant 7-Team Trade Explained

SUNS RECEIVE: B+

  • Jalen Green

  • Dillon Brooks

  • Khaman Maluach (No. 10 Pick)

  • Rasheer Fleming (No. 31 Pick)

  • Koby Brea (No. 41 Pick)

  • Daeqwon Plowden

  • 2026 Second-Round Pick

  • 2032 Second-Round Pick

Now that it’s all said and done, the Suns received quite the haul for Kevin Durant. The initial trade appeared to be very underwhelming, but considering that they received some draft capital and three new players from this year’s draft, the Suns got a fair amount back. Still, it doesn’t feel like they fully optimized KD’s trade value.

ROCKETS RECEIVE: A+

  • Kevin Durant

  • Clint Capela

The Rockets still get an A+. They got their guy and strengthened their depth at the center position. Hypothetically, the Rockets offense should operate more smoothly and now Durant is put in the best position he’s been in since Golden State.

NETS RECEIVE: C

  • 2026 Second-Round Pick

  • 2030 Second-Round Pick

The Nets as well as every other team in this deal do not play a huge role in the grand scheme of things. The Nets are simply facilitators in this trade. They’re ultimately helping the KD trade make financial and logical sense.

WARRIORS RECEIVE: C-

  • Alex Toohey (No. 52 Pick)

  • Jahmai Mashack (No. 59 Pick) (going to Memphis)

The Warriors didn’t necessarily win or lose this trade. However, the fact that being a facilitator in this trade is the only offseason move they’ve made thus far is why it gets a minus. They did receive Alex Toohey, who is an intriguing prospect from the NBL, but he likely won’t see much time on the court.

HAWKS RECEIVE: C+

  • David Roddy

  • 2031 Second-Round Pick

  • Cash Considerations

The Hawks receive a solid bench player in David Roddy and cash. It has been a very expensive offseason, so obtaining any cash or draft assets via trade is a plus for Atlanta.

LAKERS RECEIVE: C

  • Adou Thiero (No. 36 Pick)

  • Cash Considerations

The Lakers only gained from the transaction. It’s not the big swing any Lakers fan is hoping for, but it’s something. At least they found their center.

TIMBERWOLVES RECEIVE: B-

  • Rocco Zikarsky (No. 45 Pick)

  • 2026 Second-Round Pick

  • 2032 Second-Round Pick

  • Cash Considerations

The Wolves, who were also in pursuit of Durant, find themselves involved in the Kevin Durant trade to Houston. They received the third biggest haul in this deal which includes 7’3” Rocco Zikarsky, two second-round picks, and cash. Not bad for a team that is only along for the ride.
